Torosay Hills

A rewilding project on the Hebridean Isle of Mull.

Torosay Hills is a beautiful, wild, 3,000 hectare estate located in the east of the Hebridean Isle of Mull. The estate is in the process of undertaking an ambitious rewilding project to replant the Atlantic rainforest that used to cover the island, returning the area to a state of natural wilderness.

My principle aim for the project was to create a soundscape of one of the lochs on the estate, to capture the ambience, essence and wild nature of the landscape. The purpose of this was to produce a relaxing, calming track using compositional techniques to help focus and concentration.

The secondary aim was to build melodic elements into a second track that took influence from the original soundscape, but this time use instruments to emphasise the ambience of the landscape, and build these into a sonic moodboard from which branding elements might be taken for the rewilding project.
