An organic flour mill, located in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Shipton Mill is famous for its premium quality organic flour, and asked me to create music to soundtrack the company’s social media videos. The brief was to produce one upbeat jazz piece for Instagram baking tutorials, and another track for use in general brand videos.

After consulting with the mill, we decided an upbeat, 1930s jazz track influenced by the legends of jazz’s golden era would offer a classic flavour and carry the viewer through the baking process with a positive beat and flowing saxophone.

The brand video track was a chance to create a sense of the mill and its history: the Doomsday Book records a mill on the site in 1086. The music was created using field recordings of the mill stream and surrounding gardens, then overlaid with oboe and plucked strings to create a traditional, elegant melody.
